Frequently asked questions
What should I bring?
A disposable/reusable swim nappy and a well fitting neoprene over nappy, the 2 together are the best protection against any leakages! (Unless fully toilet trained in Big Kids)
A towel for your child, which can be brought poolside.
For parent/child classes a towel and swimwear for yourself
If your child feels the cold then a neoprene baby wrap/wetsuit can be used
For Let’s swim programme a swim cap and goggle
Can we alternate attending classes?
Yes of course, either parent or even other family members such as grandparents can attend classes. There will only be 1 adult able to enter the water with each child per class for group classes
Do you allow spectators?
Yes, we do ask, if possible, to keep this to 1 spectator per child
Do you use armbands?
We don’t use arm bands in our lessons, instead woggles/pool noodles are used. An important part of the classes are learning water safety skills and arm bands can give children a false sense of security around water. Woggles give children the chance to feel their own buoyancy and learn to balance and can also be pushed away when a child feels ready to be independent.
What age can babies start?
Babies can start swimming at any age so you can start whenever you feel ready. They don’t have to have completed their vaccinations in order to start. Here is the link to the advice from the NHS Can my baby go swimming before or after vaccinations? - NHS (www.nhs.uk)
